SPETSES
Spetses is the most remote island of the Argosaronic sea and is located at the entrance of the Argolic Gulf. It is known for its naval tradition and history. The nobility is depicted in the architecture of the island and, as in Hydra, there are no cars, ensuring a unique enjoyment and tranquility. Today it is a very cosmopolitan island with natural beauties, vegetation and clean beaches. The port and the capital of the Spetses is the homonymous town with neoclassical, picturesque alleys and small horse wagons for traveling, busting with tourist traffic. From 1821 to 1822, the island played an important role in the Greek War of Independence in fighting against the Turks. The sightseeings on the island of Spetses is the Bouboulina mansion (a brave woman who devoted her life and wealth to the cause of liberating Greece from Turkish occupation), the Bouboulina Museum with relics from the Revolution, Hatziyiannis Mansion and Museum with archaeological finds.
